Important

The marriage license fee is paid directly to the county clerk's office at the time of application — not to Elopements Inc. Both partners must apply for the license in person; we cannot obtain the license on your behalf. We walk every couple through the process step by step (which clerk to visit, what to bring, when to go), but the application itself has to be signed by you.

History & architecture

Spring Haven Mansion is a 19th-century Tennessee plantation house just outside Nashville that has been carefully restored as a private elopement and small-event venue. The mansion preserves its original front portico, central hallway, period parlors, and the surrounding gardens that were laid out when the house was first built. The grounds include manicured boxwood beds, mature shade trees, a wraparound porch, and a dressing room used by couples preparing for the ceremony. Spring Haven joined the Elopements Inc. Nashville lineup as the historic-mansion option with full garden access — distinct from Belmont Mansion (urban Italianate landmark operated by Belmont University) and from the in-house chapel. It is the only Nashville venue in our roster with a dedicated bridal dressing room as part of the Friends and Family package.

Best photo spots on the property

Front portico and central staircase

The mansion's main entrance with its period columns and double doors. Used for arrival shots, first-look photographs, and the formal exterior portrait — works in every season because the architecture carries the photo.

Formal garden ceremony lawn

The signature Spring Haven outdoor ceremony spot — boxwood-framed lawn with mature shade trees overhead. Best at 4-6 PM in spring and fall when the western light filters through the canopy. The most-requested Spring Haven Mansion outdoor setup.

Wraparound porch

Covered porch wrapping the mansion's south side. Used for ceremonies in light rain, post-ceremony cocktail-style mingling on Friends and Family packages, and shade-portrait sessions in the summer heat.

Interior parlor

Period parlor with original architectural detail — used for winter ceremonies, rain-backup ceremonies, and intimate Just Married ceremonies where the garden would feel oversized. The Tennessee equivalent of Belmont's Grand Salon at a smaller, more intimate scale.

Garden path and tree allée

Stone walking path lined with mature shade trees. Used for processional sequences and post-ceremony portrait walks.

Capacity & seating

Up to 20 guests across all packages. Just Married accommodates 5 guests using the parlor or front porch, Getaway 10 guests in the garden or parlor, Getaway Plus 15 guests on the formal garden lawn, and Friends and Family the full 20 with the bridal dressing room access included. Larger groups (21-50) require custom arrangement and additional lead time.

Permits & access

Spring Haven Mansion is a private historic venue; access is booked exclusively through Elopements Inc. as the elopement operator. No city or county permit is required — the venue rental fee, the timing window, and all coordination are bundled into every Spring Haven Mansion package. Couples never deal directly with the property owners.

Best season for this venue

Late April through early June is the photographic peak — boxwood beds in active growth, dogwoods and azaleas blooming around the property, 65-78°F afternoon highs, and low storm risk. Mid-October is the second peak — surrounding tree canopy turns red and gold, light angles low through the porch, and humidity drops sharply. Summer (July-August) is workable in early morning or evening windows but the midday garden becomes uncomfortable in 90°F+ heat. Winter ceremonies are possible and shift indoors to the parlor — the mansion's architecture supports a fully indoor ceremony aesthetic that other outdoor-only Nashville venues cannot match. Spring Haven is the most weather-flexible historic Nashville venue because it has both true interior and true exterior ceremony spaces.

What makes it different

Spring Haven Mansion is the only Nashville elopement venue with full private interior and exterior access, mature garden landscaping, and a dedicated bridal dressing room. Compared to Belmont Mansion (museum operations, limited interior staging time), Centennial Park (outdoor public park, no interior backup), and Nashville Wedding Chapel (indoor only, no garden), Spring Haven is the all-in-one historic-mansion option. It's the right choice for couples who want garden ceremony photos AND interior portrait coverage AND a place to actually get ready on-site — without the public-museum constraints of Belmont. It's also the only Nashville venue that scales smoothly from a 2-person Just Married to a 20-guest Friends and Family without changing venue.

Spring Haven Mansion questions

Yes — Spring Haven Mansion is one of the four flagship Nashville elopement venues offered by Elopements Inc. The mansion's parlor, wraparound porch, and formal garden lawn are all available as ceremony spots, with the venue fee, coordination, and timing handled as part of every Spring Haven package. It's the most-booked option for couples who want both interior and exterior coverage on the same day.

Spring Haven Mansion elopements start at $575 (Just Married, up to 5 guests, 15 minutes), $1,275 for Getaway (up to 10 guests, 30 minutes), $1,775 for Getaway Plus (up to 15 guests, 1 hour), and $2,375 for Friends and Family (up to 20 guests, 2 hours, with bridal dressing room included). All packages include venue access, the officiant, professional photography, ceremony coordination, and Tennessee marriage license guidance. The $100 license fee is paid separately to the Davidson County Clerk.

Different strengths. Spring Haven Mansion offers full private interior and exterior access with a dedicated bridal dressing room and a flexible 2-20 guest scaling — couples can use parlor, porch, and gardens in a single day without museum constraints. Belmont Mansion offers the more architecturally famous Italianate landmark with original 1853 frescoes and Adelicia Acklen's gardens, operated as a National Historic Landmark museum. Couples who want a private-feeling estate with on-site getting-ready space pick Spring Haven; couples who want the most architecturally significant historic interior pick Belmont.

Up to 5 guests with Just Married, 10 with Getaway, 15 with Getaway Plus, and 20 with Friends and Family. Spring Haven is the most flexible Nashville venue for guest count — it scales smoothly from a 2-person ceremony in the parlor to a 20-guest Friends and Family gathering on the formal garden lawn without changing venue.

Both. The mansion has a formal interior parlor, a covered wraparound porch, and a formal garden lawn — all three are ceremony-eligible spaces. Couples typically choose based on the season: gardens for April-October, porch for transitional weather, parlor for winter or rain-backup. The flexibility to switch on the day is part of why couples pick Spring Haven over outdoor-only or indoor-only Nashville options.

Late April through early June is the photographic peak — boxwoods, dogwoods, and azaleas all in bloom with 65-78°F afternoons. Mid-October is the second peak for fall color through the surrounding canopy. Winter ceremonies shift indoors to the parlor and produce a markedly different but equally polished aesthetic. Summer ceremonies work in early morning or 6 PM windows; we avoid midday June-August.
