Forsyth Park is a 30-acre public park in downtown Savannah, originally designed in 1840 and named for Governor John Forsyth. The park's centerpiece — the cast-iron Forsyth Fountain, installed in 1858 — is modeled after the fountain in Place de la Concorde in Paris and is one of the most-photographed landmarks in the American South. The park is ringed by Spanish-moss-draped live oaks planted in the 1850s, with a central walking promenade running north-south through the historic district. Forsyth Park is the visual icon of Savannah — every aerial drone shot of the city includes the white fountain framed by the green canopy.
