The short answer

An elopement-with-parents format includes the couple plus 4-10 immediate family members — usually parents from both sides and possibly siblings. Elopements Inc.'s 'Getaway' and 'Getaway Plus' packages are designed for this scale, running $1,075-$1,975 across destinations, including a 30-60 minute ceremony, longer photography, and time for a post-ceremony group dinner nearby.

The 'just parents' guest list is the most common scaling-up from a just-the-two-of-us elopement. Couples include it when one parent has been visibly supportive and another is uncertain, when a sibling has been a central friend, or when there's a recent family loss that makes everyone present feel especially meaningful. The right format for this guest count is not 'small wedding' (no full program, no seated reception) and not 'true elopement' (the couple alone). It's something in between: a 30-60 minute ceremony, a group photo set, dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant. Elopements Inc.'s Getaway and Getaway Plus packages are sized for exactly this.

This format is for couples who:

  • 01Couples whose parents have been involved in the relationship and would feel hurt not to be present
  • 02Couples with surviving siblings or a small core friend group they want to include
  • 03Couples planning a destination weekend where parents are traveling anyway
  • 04Couples eloping after a long engagement, where parents specifically asked to be there
  • 05Couples bringing children from a previous relationship into the new family officially

How the day flows

Do guests need to RSVP or have a formal seating chart?

No. With 4-10 guests, there's no need for formal RSVPs or assigned seating. Most couples just text their guests the venue address and arrival time. Elopements Inc.'s coordinator confirms the final headcount with you a week before the ceremony.

Can guests bring plus-ones?

Usually no — keeping the guest list tight to immediate family is the point of this format. Most couples handle this with a brief 'sorry, immediate family only' line if asked. The coordinator can help with the framing if you need it.

Is there time for a toast or speeches?

Yes — the Getaway Plus package's 1-hour window leaves room for a short toast after the ceremony if you want one. Most couples skip formal toasts and save them for the dinner that follows.

Where do guests go after the ceremony?

Elopements Inc. doesn't coordinate the post-ceremony dinner directly, but our coordinators provide a curated list of 3-5 restaurants near each venue with private dining rooms or large round tables that can accommodate 4-10 people. Many couples book ahead based on these recommendations.

Common questions

It's on the boundary — the term 'minimony' technically applies once a guest count exceeds the couple, but most people still call this scale an elopement because there's no reception, no formal program, and no audience. Functionally, it's an elopement with witnesses you love present.

Elopements Inc.'s Getaway package at $1,075-$1,175 (across destinations) is the entry point — covers up to 10 guests, 30-minute ceremony, 50-100 edited photos. The Getaway Plus package at $1,675-$1,975 covers up to 20 guests, 1-hour ceremony, 100-150 photos, and adds optional videography. The marriage license fee is separate ($66-$100 depending on state).

Yes, and it's the most common configuration. Most elopement-with-parents bookings include the couple plus both sets of parents (4 guests). Add a maid of honor and best man and the count is 6 — still within the Getaway package. Add a sibling and partner from each side and you're at 8-10, which is also within Getaway.

Optional. Some couples ask one or both parents to give a blessing, read a poem, or simply stand at the front during the vow exchange. Others have parents seated as honored guests with no formal role. The officiant works with you to build the program around whatever role you want parents to play.

Yes — grandparents are well within the 10-guest range. If both sets of grandparents + parents + the couple equals more than 10, the Getaway Plus package (up to 20 guests) accommodates the larger family.
